Lenovo to revive Motorola RAZR as a $one,500 foldable smartphone

Lenovo plans to make 200,000 units of the new handset

Motorola owner Lenovo may revive the RAZR equally a foldable, 5G-capable smartphone with a $1,500 USD (about $1,987 CAD) toll tag.

According to a January 16th study from theWall Street Journal, Lenovo is partnering with Verizon in the U.S. on an exclusive bargain. It plans to sell the phone as early every bit February.

WSJ notes that the phone is all the same undergoing testing, and then there aren't any details on specs yet. This also means the exact release engagement is still unknown and could alter.

The Chinese reckoner maker bought the Motorola Mobility handset business organisation from Google in 2014. The company reportedly plans to manufacture near 200,000 units of the new RAZR.

The super thin RAZR V3 flip telephone launched in 2004. Motorola sold 130 million units of the handset globally. The visitor launched a new version of the RAZR in 2005, but it was overshadowed by the release of the iPhone in 2007.

WSJ notes that the new RAZR is part of Verizon's 2019 roadmap to "include some of the first smartphones uniform with" 5G networks, the adjacent iteration of mobile networks.

At the moment, information technology appears Lenovo plans to launch the new RAZR only in the U.S. and probably around the same fourth dimension that Samsung is rumoured to launch its foldable phone at its 'Unpacked' consequence on February 20th, 2019.
